MARK HARVEY SMITH is a real estate broker and community
consultant based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He has been engaged in
real estate work for 25 years, primarily through adaptive reuse of
properties and neighborhood and business district revitalization.  

Mark began his real estate career leasing office and retail properties
in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia in the 1980s.  He began consulting
for property owners and communities in the 1990s and developed a
specialization in market analysis and the marketing of unique
commercial properties.  He joined Pittsburgh-based Synergy Real
Estate Corporation in 2000 and served as vice president there for five
years before returning to his own specialized practice in 2008.

Current clients include the Mon Valley Initiative for the communities
of Braddock, Charleroi and West Newtown Pennsylvania; the
Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation; Tull's Florist and
Wolf Lake Farm.

Smith has written numerous articles and publications regarding
community and economic development, real estate and small business.  
In 2005 he published
Boldly Live Where Others Won’t, a “how to”
guide about investing and living in transitional communities.  

He is a real estate instructor at Penn State University and conducts a
variety of real estate and economic development seminars.

certified appraiser and community consultant specializing in the
marketing of unique real estate opportunities.

With 25 years of commercial real estate and marketing experience,
Mark has developed a proactive approach to marketing real estate
that differs from the conventional.  This approach can be beneficial to
sellers as well as to agents, buyers, lessees, and other associated
stakeholders.  

Current clients include community and economic development groups
seeking to market and promote multiple properties in designated
neighborhoods as well as buyers, sellers, landlords, and tenants.  The
client base is limited in order to dedicate the required attention that
each client deserves.

Mark has developed an expertise and a passion for focusing on the
“odd and unusual” when it comes to real estate.  That includes
properties that require an unconventional marketing effort as well as
clients seeking to buy, rent, or sell real property under unusual
circumstances.
